Nitramine Ordinance Fuel Cell Systems
Catalyst Development for Military Fuel Cells
NDCPower has worked with the US Army's ARDEC to develop fuel cell technology that allows use of nitramine-based ordinance (RDX, HMX, Tetryl, etc...) as a fuel. This system converts the nitramine-based ordinance into a liquid fuel that is used in a direct liquid fuel cell with an air cathode. By-products of the process are inert gases. The nitramine is not combusted, but is used directly as a fuel at ambient temperature. This technology has applications where a dual use for ordinance is desired to reduce weight or eliminate batteries. Contact NDCPower for further details.
