Design and engineering of PEM fuel cell stacks offers an attractive horizontal integration strategy for NDCPower chemical engineering competencies.  NDCPower offers two types of PEM fuel cells: 

The PEM fuel cell stack market has been characterized by manufacturers offering limited product lines with very limited design options. This is due in part to technology limitations, the high cost of platinum catalysts, and what, at times, is the even more expensive balance of plant (BOP) needed to make the fuel cell stacks operate efficiently. Often, the parasitic load of the BOP further restricts the range of fuel cell power applications. These conditions have forced most suppliers to develop complete high value end-user systems where the overall benefits of the total system can help absorb the high cost associated with the stack. The adoption of PEM fuel cells has therefore been confined to "component driven" applications as opposed to market requirements. Back-up power and replacing conventional batteries in applications, such as materials handling, where batteries limit productivity are two important current areas of fuel cell activity. Some of these "component driven" systems have proven effective in niche areas, but their current cost and design limitations have not met the market potential. System integrators are often forced to search for power needs that fit the technical specification of a given fuel cell stack instead of the other way around.

NDCPower has now addressed the problem of high cost and restricted application opportunities with the release of our patented Sequoia and Yosemite Hydrogen PEM fuel stacks. NDCPower solves these problems in the following ways:

Design Flexibility. NDCPower PEM stacks eliminate application restrictions by supplying fuel cell stacks customized for the power needs of individual customers with power outputs from 1kW to 100kW in a range of form factors that can be developed based on user requirements within 90 days from order.

BOP Options. NDCPower's Sequoia line of stacks are ideal as a replacement or second source for conventional systems that use external humidification of the gas stream. Sequoia will protect your engineering investment in existing BOP systems and provide you with the commercial flexibility of more than one stack supplier. If you are designing a new system, then NDCPower offers the additional option of its Yosemite line of self-humidified stack that eliminate the need for external humidification in the BOP.

Yosemite PEM Fuel Cell Stacks


NDCPower's 2.5kW Standard Design Yosemite Module

Design and engineering of PEM fuel cell stacks offers an attractive horizontal integration strategy for NDCPower chemical engineering competencies.  NDCPower offers two types of PEM fuel cells: 

NDCPower offers PEM fuel cell stacks based on our innovative Yosemite designs.

Yosemite stacks offer intermediate to low pressure operation with self-humidified gas streams to greatly simplify the balance of plant (BOP) requirements for a fuel cell power system. Air, hydrogen, and water streams are introduced through external manifolds to further simplify stack design and lower manufacturing costs.

Yosemite stacks are available in power increments ranging from less than 1kW to over 15kW, depending on customer needs. Stacks are available as individual components or as modules that can be linked together for higher power applications.

The Yosemite line of fuel cell stacks are a rugged product developed in Cheyenne, Wyoming at an altitude of over 1,800 meters. Yosemite stacks can be used for both motive and stationary power applications.

The Yosemite's unique self-humidification design allows users to eliminate an external humidification scheme from the physical plant and lower the pressure at the anode and cathode.
